Tremain: A Man Of Many Hats

A familiar face and a booming voice will be missing when students roam the halls and stroll into classrooms at Noblesville High School this fall.
Bob Tremain, a former educator, coach and athletic director and an all-around good guy, took early retirement after the 2009-10 school year.
But his many friendships, acquaintances and memories remain. So does that deep, booming voice. All you have to do is hear it. Even with your eyes closed or if you are looking the other way or possibly involved in heated conversation, well, you know Bob Tremain has entered the building.
He greets folks with a firm hand shake and strong eye contact, followed by that booming, deep bass voice, which is one of the more recognizable sounds you will ever hear.
Bob Tremain’s life and devotion to youth have been as big and memorable and his distinctive voice.
You could say he’s both loud and proud.
“I would not trade anything . . . would not do anything over again differently,’’ he told me during a recent conversation at the Noblesville Elks Club. Continue reading

Congratulations Fishers HS!

As we start a new school year, here’s an impressive feat Fishers High School can hang its hat on from the previous school year:

Fishers received the 2009-2010 Red Gold Indiana High School Athletic Association Sportsmanship Award, presented for achievement of individual high schools for promoting sportsmanship and student leadership in their schools.

Hey, that’s a pretty big deal. It’s a tremendous honor for both the school and the Town of  Fishers. Also, keep in mind that Fishers High School, which joins HSE in the Hamilton Southeastern Schools district, was re-established as a high school in 2006.

Yep, quite an impressive feat in such a short time, you say? Indeed.

“Fishers High School is honored to be the winter sports recipient of the Red Gold IHSAA Sportsmanship Award,” Jon Miles, who is the Fishers High School co-athletic director with Jim Brown, told the state’s governing body of Indiana high school athletics when accepting the award at the March 27 Boys Basketball State Finals at Conseco Fieldhouse.

“We believe, and teach our students that they are ambassadors representing their families, school, and the Town of Fishers. Whether they are acting as host for a home activity, or away, they are always making and leaving a positive impression.

“Our fans, student athletes, and patrons have helped create a culture that provides our students with opportunities to achieve the highest degree of sportsmanship, fair play and excellence in an atmosphere of mutual respect. FHS athletic programs strive to enrich the educational development of all participants and help prepare students for leadership roles in society.”

Well done, Fishers High School!
