Brownsburg’s Seth Fair owns a four-shot lead over Noblesville’s Eric Steger heading into Thursday’s final round of the 98th Indiana State Open at The Hawthorn’s Golf & Country Club in Fishers.

Fair, the first-round leader and second-round co-leader, carded a 5-under 67 for a 205 total and moved to minus-11 after 54 holes.

Steger fired a 69 to go to minus-7 and 209 after three rounds.

The two professionals will be paired for Thursday’s final round, in what likely will be a two-man battle. The closest players to the leaders are 5 shots behind Steger and another 4 strokes off Fair’s lead.

Carmel’s Tony Lazzara  and Fishers’ Rob Johnson shot 69 and 71, respectively, and are in a five-way tie for third place at 214.

Columbus’ Tyler Duncan, a second-round go-leader, soared to a 76 and also was at 214.

Among the golfers under par, Purdue’s Adam Schenk (Vincennes) and Andrew Fogg (Greenwood), who are at 214 and 215, respectively, are the only amateurs.

Reigning champion Stephen Conrad (Syracuse) was at 216.
