Huskies’ Logan Cunningham IS The Difference

In a game full of penalties and turnovers and at times much uncertainty, Hamilton Heights finally found a way to win.

Logan Cunningham lost his balance but got enough first-down yardage.
After junior Ethan Engelhardt scored on pass receptions of 29 and 17 yards from Corey Beck, who also had a rushing touchdown, the Huskies found a way to finally get the ball to senior Logan Cunningham.
The four-year starter scored on a 90-yard run with 6:35 left in the third quarter, giving the unbeaten (5-0 a 20-7 lead. Leading 27-21 with 2:03 remaining, Spencer Dull’s interception put the Huskies on Eastern’s 35, and Cunningham did the rest, securing the victory with 1:55 showing.
The tougher-than nails 180-pounder raced around left end, cut inside to elude a would-be tackler at the 9, and found the end zone with a defender hanging onto his leg.
“Logan’s a great competitor . . . he just refuses to lose,’’ said his coach, Mitch Street. “He sort of tweaked his leg or something early in the first half, so we didn’t use him all that much. But when we needed him in the second half, well, he was there, like always. He’s just so fast. It’s hard to imagine anyone faster than he is. He can shift into high speed and simply turn it on when he has to. He’s just a big-play football player.’’

Tigers Still Have Plenty Of Muscle, Giddy-Up
The Class 5A king football Tigers are still walking the walk . . . and possibly talking the talk with their actions.
GAME OF THE WEEK

“We responded well, and we played really well,’’ reigning state championship coach Rick Wimmer

Rick Wimmer's Tigers have won 16 in a row and 21 of their last 22 games.
said of his Fishers Tigers after they defeated Noblesville 27-13 on Friday night at Hare Chevrolet Field.
“We’re very young, but the maturity I saw tonight told me a lot about this group. When they got us down early, I like the way we got back up and came after them. There was no quit. We’re not where we want to be, but we may me a heck of a lot closer than I would have imagined after one game.’’
Led by running backs Eric Davis and Mark Madden, who saw some action late last season due to injuries, the fourth-ranked Tigers pretty much had their way with the Millers statistically, winning the yardstick to the tune of 389-145 in offensive yards while getting the better of the Millers for the fourth straight year.
Davis used muscle and speed en route to 145 yards on 20 carries, and Madden had 72 yards on 16 carries and scored a touchdown. Fishers rushed for 236 yards, holding Noblesville to 49 yards. The Millers had another 96 yards via the air.
